Not When I'm Queen!!
This page must be prefaced with the understanding that the 'position' of queen in this context assumes a sustainable and functional, if unconventional, system of checks and balances, to be upheld by an appropriate number of co-queens.  Co-queens will be appointed based on behavioral merit, a sound integration of wisdom, compassion, commitment to humanity and our planet, and vigorous strength and passion; the ability to nurture and grow that which will sustain our species and our planet.

Co-queens qualifications shall not be limited by gender, sexual orientation, religion (or lack thereof) or physical ability, and some appointees have already been selected - they know who they are <wink>.  Each "not when i'm queen!" post will be accompanied by a relevant quote (or three).

Many of the conversations between Mom and I began with the phrase "Not when *I'm* Queen!”  Had this story topic come up, we would both have said something like this:

Insurance companies should absolutely have to cover this medication. Absolutely. They can cover drugs that the pharmaceutical companies legally 'push' on TV, drugs that are of only questionable value and many of which are really dangerous drugs, drugs that people are under the influence of when they drive cars but are not required to cover life-saving drugs? Not when I'm Queen!

“HIV does not make people dangerous to know, so you can shake their hands and give them a hug: Heaven knows they need it.” – Princess Diana

“People with HIV are still stigmatized. The infection rates are going up. People are dying. The political response is appalling. The sadness of it, the waste.” – Elton John

“Eighty percent of Americans with HIV do not know they are infected.” – Philip Emeagwali

“The challenges surrounding HIV and AIDS are getting more complex and mature, and we just can't stick our heads in the sand and say 'it can't happen to me.” – Brande Roderick
